Trail Overview
National Forest Service Trail 9738 is an easy off-road trail for beginners. Located off Buchanan Road and East Lincoln Street, this route is easily accessible. This trail is typically easy with nothing technical. Most of the trail is a combination of sand and dirt and weaves through an epic section of the Manistee National Forest with great fall foliage. The trail starts wide with sweeping views of the gorgeous tall Michigan red pine trees before closing in and snaking around the forest. Some logs may be present on the trail that need to be traversed. Like most Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause mud/water holes that can get rutted out quickly. Most of this trail is only wide enough for 1 vehicle with limited places to pass. Regardless of the conditions, this is an incredible trail! At the time of this trail recording (mid-March 2024), the trail did not continue through to Lincoln Street due to locals creating a barricade with large downed trees as well as a berm to prevent through traffic. Although this is illegal and a shame, please respect all property owners. Stay to the trail and Tread Lightly when taking this track. With the trail abruptly ending, there is a small space to turn around and make this track an out-and-back adventure that is still worth the ride!
