Trail Overview

Forest Service Road 9578 is an easy, fun off-road trail for beginners. Located just off M-37, this route is easily accessible. This trail is very easy with nothing technical. Most of the trail is a combination of sand and dirt and weaves through a beautiful forest with great fall foliage. Just around the corner from this trail is Loda Lake Wildflower Sanctuary and Recreation Area. This area is home to the Birch Grove Trail as well as trails in the Loda Lake Recreation Area. The Birch Grove Trail crosses over this track. twice! Like most Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause mud/water holes that can get rutted out quickly. Most of this trail is only wide enough for 1 vehicle. This is a trail that should be experienced at least once to take in its sincere beauty.

Kind of a tight trail for a jeep. Big tree was across the trail near the end of the trail. I had to put some logs in front and back. Need a lot of ground clearance for the downed log. Overall nice little trail.
