Trail Overview
NFS 6657 is a fun and scenic seasonal bidirectional trail within the Manistee National Forest. Located just southeast of Baldwin, this trail is easily accessible. Starting from the north end at the intersection of E 76th Street, you'll start out on a smooth sandy dirt trail in the forest. The trail surface switches from a smooth sandy dirt to a thick sand, to dirt, and back. A few of the twisty sections can get narrow, so please use caution. Like most of Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause unfavorable conditions on the trail, including downed trees, mud holes, and washouts. Come Prepared! Most of this trail is only wide enough for one vehicle, with limited places to pass. This is not a difficult trail at all, but it contains a lot of fun and beauty, and gives access to other great trails nearby. The south end of the trail finishes at the Power in the Pines (NFS 6792) trail. Regardless of the conditions of this trail, it's a fantastic route to explore! As always, PLEASE TREAD LIGHTLY and be respectful of our public lands so future generations can have access to these trails!
