Trail Overview
Hinchey Trail is an easy 2.5-mile bidirectional trail just outside of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. Located between Cedar Lake Trail and Pigmee Trail, you'll find this trail, making it easily accessible and easy to combine with other nearby trails to make for a fun day. Starting from the northern end, you'll begin on a dirt and gravel track with some trees and tall grass lining the side. There are a few PRIVATE PROPERTY NO TRESPASSING signs along this route, so please be respectful of others' land and privacy. As you navigate down the trail, you'll find tons of wildlife. Be sure to take it all in and TREAD LIGHTLY so future generations can enjoy these public spaces. This trail will surely keep you entertained. Like most of Michigan's off-road trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause unfavorable conditions on the trail, including downed trees, mud holes, and washouts. Come Prepared! This is not a difficult trail, but it contains a lot of fun and beauty. This trail also gives access to other great trails nearby. The southern end of the trail meets up with Spears Trail, so if you haven't checked that out yet, now is your time! There are other trails off this route that lead to other nearby routes. Regardless of the conditions or length of this track, it's an awesome route to check out! As always, PLEASE TREAD LIGHTLY and be respectful of our public lands so future generations can have access to these trails.
