Trail Overview
FS 8620 is a fun in-and-out trail within the Manistee National Forest. Located just off FS 8535, it's easily accessible and gives so much. Starting from the east end right off FS 8535, you'll begin on a sandy trail that will quickly transition to a leaf- and rock-covered trail. As you zig-zag along the trail, you'll come across a couple of areas where you could disperse camp. If you do so, please make sure you pack in and out whatever you bring. If you plan on utilizing this site, PLEASE TREAD LIGHTLY, and be respectful of our public lands so future generations can have access to these trails! Like most of Michigan's trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause unfavorable conditions on the trail, including downed trees, mud holes, and washouts. Come prepared. Most of this trail is only wide enough for 1 vehicle with limited places to pass. The end of the trail finishes kind of abruptly as you come across dirt mounds that look like they used to be part of the trail. This again is another reason why it is so important to tread lightly on these trails, because obviously, it seems like maybe certain sections of this area were being abused, and they decided to block them off. This is not a difficult trail at all, but it's essential to continuing the network of trails in the area, and it contains a lot of beauty. Regardless of the conditions, this is an awesome trail you don't want to miss!
