Trail Overview
License Plate Required! Fife Lake Trail is a fun and interesting "out and back" two-track trail. Located just west of US HWY-131, it's easily accessible. This track is interesting because it offers a wide variety of off-road terrain. You'll encounter sandy washouts and hills, tight overgrowth sections of dirt trail, majestic pine trees, mud/water holes, and open space to roam. The surface mostly consists of a combination of sand, dirt, and grass as you weave through the Cadillac Forest Management Unit. Like most of Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause mud/water holes that can get rutted out quickly. Most of this trail is only wide enough for 1 vehicle with limited places to pass. With there being several places along this route with a fair amount of overgrowth, please use caution and come prepared! The end of the route finishes in a large open space with a turnaround loop. This is a great place for dispersed camping. If you plan on utilizing this dispersed site, PLEASE TREAD LIGHTLY, and seek more information at the local DNR Office/Ranger Station before camping here. Regardless of the conditions, this is an awesome trail for all to enjoy!
