Trail Overview
Crooked Lake Trail is a unique bidirectional trail within the Pinckney State Recreation Area. Located just north of Dexter Township between Highway 94 and Highway 96, this trail is easily accessible. Starting from the southern end of Silver Hill Road, you'll start off on a dirt/gravel road after passing the DNR pay station. This trail requires a Michigan state recreation pass that you can either already have or pay for when you get there. The Potawatomi Trailhead and Losee Lake Trailhead are immediately at the beginning of this trail. The trail then enters a thicker portion of the forest that brings a different vibe and mood to the adventure. This can be a busy trail due to the biking and hiking trails that are throughout this area. The trail eventually ends up at the Pinckney Crooked Lake rustic campground near Silver Lake. Like most of Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause unfavorable conditions on the trail, including downed trees, mud holes, and washouts. Come Prepared! This is not a difficult trail at all, but it contains a lot of fun and beauty, and gives access to other great trails nearby. Regardless of the conditions of this trail, it's a wonderful route to explore with a lot of fun to be had! As always, PLEASE TREAD LIGHTLY and be respectful of our public lands so future generations can have access to these trails!
