Trail Overview

Turtle Trail is a mild, leisurely, scenic loop trail that travels through some fields and prairies, and then into the woods along the Wabash River with some great views. As the name implies, you are likely to encounter some turtles on the trail so please watch for them! Located on the west side of Badlands Offroad Park. The trailhead is behind a gate near the youth mx track. The gate may be locked at times, ask park staff to open the gate for access. Vehicles only, no ATV's, SXS, or Dirt Bikes.

Difficulty

The forest section has a few tight turns between trees along with a few uneven sections with some ruts and small rocks. As with any trail, conditions may change with weather and time. There are areas that may be muddy after a rain.

If you look at the picture of the sign, you'll notice it is a seasonal trail. It's also only open on weekends when trail conditions are favorable, meaning when it's not muddy. Being a low level area next to the Wabash River, this trail is often closed due to flooding. It follows around a farm field more than in any woods. After you come out of the woods, you'll follow a levy along the farm field, look for eagle 🦅 nest above the trail about 3/4 of the way down
