Trail Overview

Twenty Mile Leonia, or FS 408, is an easy gravel route that climbs from Boulder Creek up to Black Mountain FS 274. The route is typically only one vehicle wide with overhanging pine trees. There are a few dispersed camp sites near where the middle fork of Boulder Creek enters, and again where Katka Face road crosses Boulder Creek. There are no bathrooms or garbage collection at any of the sites. This area is popular for snowmobilers in the winter, and with those visiting the Boulder City ghost town near the east end of the route. There are some non-motorized trails in the area, and there are deer, elk, and bears. Logging operations are frequent in the area; be aware as you approach corners.
