Trail Overview

The North Fork Deer Creek Trail starts in a gulch above a stream on a wide single track. It switchbacks up a hillside to get into a burn area of tall thick burnt trees. It's mostly a smooth dirt trail, but a few sections have embedded rock and boulders, including one small rock obstacle made of boulders, and a couple of roots here and there. There are three easy creek crossings that are all shallow but one is about 30 feet long. It has a good mix of sun and shade. This is one of the easier trails in the trail system because it has less exposure and goes through nice open meadows instead of steep hillsides. It goes past a really beautiful alpine lake near the north end. Taking this trail in from Deer Creek Road is a great way to access the entire trail system if staging on Deer Creek Road.
