Trail Overview

Lucky Boy is a 2-mile-long dirt road through Challis National Forest that leaves the Custer Motorway and goes up to private property. The south end has been gated off at private property, so it has to be ridden as an out-and-back and does not connect to the Fourth of July. It's really easy the whole way. It's pretty steep, as it gains 1,200 feet in 2 miles. It's wider than the Fourth of July trail. It mostly climbs up on a shelfy dirt road with a bit of loose rock and embedded rocky surfaces but is mostly smooth with no obstacles. It's a fun spur to check out when already checking out the historical sites along the Custer Motorway.

Pretty steep in sections and little room to pass, but we only saw one other person. Don’t recommend going all the way to the end as there is a locked gate and very little room to turn around. Just enjoy the views at the last switchback and turn around there (or walk to the gate)
