Trail Overview

Fun canyon with switchbacks and breathtaking mountain ridgelines that parallel Lake Pend Oreille. The trail is somewhat technical but would not consider this a "Hard Enduro". This is the middle connection section between Bayview and Talache Landing single track. This trail has a dirt bike and quad sign at the base but the trail has been grooved and narrowed to the point that a quad will no longer fit as of summer of 2024.

Wasn’t sure what I was going to find. App said it was for moto but earth view looked like it was drivable. Google maps said road was closed. Anyways, I headed out and was surprised to find this scenic drive with lake views. Looks to be owned by a logging company but no signs or gates closed on the main road. One of the better views I’ve found in the area.

The first third of the trail is a straight elevation climb with very sharp switchbacks, ledge drops, and tree roots across the single track trail. The next third is similar except there are jagged rock gardens with 8 to 12 inch stones. You don't choose a line, it chooses you. Once at the peak, it has some nice flowy sections but it's short lived and soon turns into fire roads. The parking area is SMALL and very crowded as it serves multiple hiking trails that are popular in the area. Overall, there are better places. We looped on Cocolala Rd. just to keep from descending the first third of the trail. Total time was about 1.25 hours.
