Trail Overview
This 1.7-mile intermediate single track starts at the Hard Creek Trailhead on a spur road off of Goose Lake Road. It starts at a nice dispersed camping area in the high alpine. The Hard Creek Basin singletrack is consistently rocky and technical, with some small creek crossings along the way. The trail features numerous large embedded rocks that require constant attention and advanced experience to navigate smoothly. Despite the rocky terrain, the trail is well-defined and easy to follow. At the end of the trail, there is a near-vertical 3-4 foot tall rock obstacle where it connects with the Hidden Lake Loop and Upper Hazard trails. The trail appears to receive a decent amount of traffic from dirt bikes, as well as hikers and horses. It has incredible wildflowers in the summer.
Difficulty
This singletrack is rated a 5 difficulty due to its rocky and challenging terrain, including long sections of large rocks and embedded boulders. The near-vertical ledge obstacle at the end of the trail adds significantly to the difficulty.
