Trail Overview
Gold/Beaver Creek (FS 1015, 401, and 1341) drives high into the Kaniksu National Forest from the State of Washington down to Beaver Creek Campground on Priest Lake in the panhandle of North Idaho. The upper route has recently been cleared of overgrowth, and the route is wide and well-maintained. As you descend, the route becomes narrower and overgrown, with some muddy sections and shelf roads that have some small ledges. The route eventually widens again, and there are some dispersed campsites along the roadway as you approach Beaver Creek Campground. There are multiple spur and logging roads along the route in varying conditions, and unfortunately, these have become festooned with debris and garbage. There are no vault toilets or amenities, and no cell phone coverage. There are Skunk, Deer, Elk, Mountain Lion, and Bear in the vicinity. There can be seasonal closures of this and adjacent routes.
