Fish Creek

Turn off Highway 12 onto Fish Creek Road, and drive to where the road ends. From here, the Fish Creek trail takes off upstream. The trail starts off flowy through a Pacific Northwest-style cedar forest. Within the first half mile, you will begin to climb and sidehill. You quickly reach a section of short rocky climbs. These climbs involve embedded rocks in the trail, and a steep drop off to your left. While not overly technical, it would be extremely unfortunate to tip your dirt bike off the trail on the downhill side. There is a good chance it would end up in Fish Creek. There is one short section of trail that is eroding away, and it is a short but skinny line through the erosion. Shortly after this, you drop back down to river level and traverse along the river for a short while. Soon you'll hit a creek crossing that is rocky and slick, followed by a short climb up the trail to a switchback. After this, there is a break in the technical riding for around a mile. You'll climb up a hill and drop off the other side. At mile 2.7, there is a section of freshly dug trail that climbs up and then down 100 yards later. The climb up is quite steep and loose. This is the most difficult section of the trail on the ride, but not as exposed as the earlier section of the trail. The trail gets a tad overgrown in the next section, but it is manageable. After you cross a bridge, take the left fork. At mile 4, you will reach Obia Cabin. At mile 6, you will reach a fork in the trail. Go left and cross Fish Creek to ride up the Fish Butte Saddle ATV trail to Fish Butte. Continue upstream to keep riding Fish Creek trail. This description is for the six miles up to the turn-off to go up to Fish Butte. Combine this trail with the Fish Butte Saddle and ride up to the top of Fish Butte for fantastic views of the area. Continue down Fish Butte Trail to make an excellent loop and come out at Fish Creek Road.
