Trail Overview
Airline is a challenging, high-consequence singletrack trail near Crouch, Idaho, suitable for intermediate to advanced dirt bike riders. Winding up to the high ridges near Scott Mountain, this 14.2-mile point-to-point route begins at 3,017 feet and climbs over 6,500 feet to an elevation of 8,120 feet.
The terrain consists of a mix of smooth singletrack and demanding technical obstacles, including loose rock, off-camber sections, and boulder fields. Steep drop-offs and high exposure along ridge sections require precise control and prior experience.
Late summer and fall are the best times to ride, as snow blocks high-elevation, north-facing slopes well into spring. Riding with a partner is strongly recommended due to the remote nature of the trail. The route provides expansive views of the surrounding Boise National Forest and the Payette River mountains.
Difficulty
Out of the 15 miles of single track on the way up, approximately 30% of it has a technical section with loose rock, boulders or fairly extreme exposure. This is not a trail for beginners, as the consequences for failure are fairly extreme.
