Trail Overview

This route begins shortly after entering the wildlife management area on Elmers Road and ends at the NE corner of North Grade Road. It is full of sugar sand, and deep sticky mud - hence the name "Elmers Glue." There are frequent tight areas that will scratch your paint, obstacle avoidance detours, and some small ledges that could roll your vehicle if not entered/exited the right way. This is a fun and challenging trail that will test your vehicle's low-traction capabilities, and likely also your recovery equipment.

Difficulty

Mud is the most challenging part of this trail. There are frequent areas that become swampy and like quicksand, in that, any weight will draw an object into the pit. The sand is also challenging but the key is keeping up some momentum. Do not assume that just because it looks dry, you can cross! Going in pairs or a group is highly recommended.

As dry as it gets on this trail. There is mud in some pits but no water sitting in 90% of the holes.

Fun trail! Plenty of bypasses on the bigger mud holes. No issues at all in my ranger on 35’s!

Very dry, most of the water holes are dried up on this trail, but the water crossing through the swamp is still around waist deep.

Most of the trail has very deep pits of water. Everything from 6 inches to close to 2 feet deep. There are areas where you can go around, but those have been heavily used, and the ruts are very deep. You will need good recovery gear and another vehicle or winch to be safe.

Lots of water crossings (large mud puddles). Some mandatory but most have bypass. Lots of slick mud and loose sand. Seemed several at this time were deeper than a foot and some I think even up to 18”-2’. Later in the rainy season I think some spots could get pretty difficult. Was by myself, but if you are doing all puddles, would be best to have winch and/or travel with a buddy vehicle.

Dozens Shallow but large water holes with no way around. We went at the beginning of Florida’s rainy season. Don’t go out there alone, go with a buddy that with recovery ropes and a radio. I got through fine with my real when drive trooper and my buds AWD crosstrek wilderness
