Trail Overview

The Deep Woods Trail, also known as Ocala National Forest Road 42-27.6, connects Sweet Springs at the north end and CR 42 at the south end in the southeast part of the Ocala National Forest. The trail gives you access to the Deep Woods Ranch. The road conditions are a mixture of packed sand, loose sand, and deep holes that can turn into 2-foot deep mud holes after rainy days. The road is not always wide enough for two vehicles to pass. 4WD and high clearance are recommended. All vehicles must be street legal. Ocala National Forest is in Florida, north of Orlando. It's known for its large areas of sand pine scrub forest. The Juniper Springs, Alexander Springs, and Salt Springs recreation areas have natural pools and canoe runs. Hundreds of lakes and ponds include Lake Kerr and the enormous Lake George.

Some trash in a few early spots (who drops a boat off like that?!). Biggest thing was how narrow the trail was. Did a few scratches but was passable. Besides that it was very fun with some small water areas from rain the day before. There's a spot with some fun 'bouncing' as my kid put it. We had a blast.

Trees are overgrown a bit, would be great for atv or side by side but for our trucks we were a bit tight. Fun trail to enter ONF though
