Trail Overview
Croom Motorcycle Area (CMA), often called Croom ORV Park, is a 2,600-acre off-highway riding area in Withlacoochee State Forest near Brooksville, Florida. Managed by the Florida Forest Service, Croom offers miles of marked and unmarked trails for dirt bikes and ATVs, with natural terrain ranging from hardwood hammocks and tight scrub to pits created by historic mining operations. Trails range from easy to challenging, and the facility includes training areas plus beginner and intermediate riding areas for children ages 12 and under.
Day visitors have access to designated parking areas, picnic facilities and restrooms. Buttgenbach Campground provides direct access to the trail system, along with campsites, bathhouses and an ATV/dirt-bike wash station. Croom also has a Technical Riding Area with separate adult and youth tracks and an enduro/obstacle course. This area operates Friday through Sunday, weather permitting, and requires an additional pass.
Croom Motorcycle Area is open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. A valid pass and helmet are required, and permitted off-highway motorcycles and ATVs must be no more than 55 inches wide and 1,500 pounds dry weight.
Difficulty
Croom is primarily sandy terrain. The single-track trails are mostly hard-packed with a pine needle base. The wider trails, however, tend to have more loose sand. After it rains, plenty of large puddles can form, but riders can easily ride around them. The enduro track is fast and flowy, providing an exhilarating ride. Within the maze of Croom, you might also encounter a few steep, short sandy chutes, which are not marked on this specific route and are better suited for more experienced riders. Overall, Croom is an easy and enjoyable ORV park, suitable for riders of all skill levels.
