Trail Overview
C-44 is a narrow, single-lane trail that winds through towering mixed pine forests, offering a scenic and immersive off-road experience. The route provides an engaging ride without being overly technical, making it an excellent choice for those who want to enjoy the natural surroundings at a relaxed pace. This route is periodically maintained, but drivers should still expect sections of deep muddy ruts and mud holes—especially during the spring and summer months when wet conditions make them more abundant. Along the way, you’ll encounter a mix of terrain, including soft sand in some turns and occasional mud holes that add a bit of challenge. A concrete block creek crossing is a standout feature, providing improved traction and a reliable passage across the water. Overall, the trail is straightforward, particularly in dry conditions.
Difficulty
Be cautious of the water crossing after heavy rains. Most of this trail can be traveled without much difficulty; however, depending on recent rainfall, you will encounter mud holes and muddy areas that will require 4x4 and offroad tires.
