Trail Overview

The simple dirt and sandy roads in this section of Florida's Blackwater River State Forest are less about 4x4 difficulty and more about just getting away from it all. Towering pine trees line many of the trails along this route. One surprise along the way is a beaver dam right alongside the driving path. It isn't uncommon to run across local wildlife along the way as well.

Decided to ride Route 2 again. The trail has gotten a little worn since September, but for the most part it's still in great condition. It rained a few days ago, so there were a few wet/muddy spots, primarily on F73, but nothing earth shattering. I will say, I was shocked by all the clear cutting going on around F73 as well. I'm sure the skidders and heavy equipment weren't helping the trail much when they were working. It was a more entertaining ride this time with the chance to get the Jeep a little dirty. I took it in 4H but don't know that it was necessary. Great beginner trail. I'll be anxious to hear why they clear cut so much. Video uploaded to my YouTube if you're interested. @The_Hooligan_Offroad

Pretty easy good chill trail. there was a spot where it was very deep but 4H did the trick. Or 4L would do it.

Super dusty. Definitely because of the lack of rain. I don’t find any of these trails around here difficult at all. I’m from the continental divide of Colorado, that could be why, but it was nice and peaceful to be on the trail this morning. Forestry was definitely out there recently, with evidence of dirt mounds blocking off certain portions of the trails, which I can only assume they’re getting ready for a control burn in the not too distant future. Other than that, definitely a one out of 10. I aired down just because I always do, which is always smart, especially when you enter the more sandy areas of the trail. There was also some hunters running dogs, not too far off of Sandy Forest Road and cemetery Road.

Mostly firm packed sand and clay. Only a few “moist” spots and a couple of tiny puddles
