Trail Overview

Lime Creek Road follows the beautiful Lime Creek steep with history going back to a hunting trail used by the Ute Indians, to prospectors/pioneers converting the trail to a road in the late 1880s to access Silverton mines and later on improved by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930's. The overall road is not difficult, but please beware the road is very narrow in some sections and there are very few turnaround spots or pull offs for passing.

Ran into a few people along the way, luckily at opportune pull offs. Some spots along the steep drop off sections get very narrow and make it hairy for for a full size pickup. Some previous rockslides that have been cleared push the trail towards the outer edge, thankfully we entered from the North which puts the driver on the outside. Very rocky, definitely need high clearance. Scenery is spectacular.

Great 4wheeling trail, Recommended moderate clearance for some parts. Some snow left on shady side of trail. Puddles between 2” and 10” depending on how you go through them. Mostly dry and great views.
