White Mountains View Road

This scenic trail begins directly off Highway 266, with a trailhead that can be difficult to spot and parking for up to four vehicles. The narrow route does not allow vehicles to pass and has overgrown brush that can cause pinstriping on wider vehicles. The trail is mostly sand and fine pebbles, with scenic views of the White Mountains as you travel toward the White Mountains Wilderness Study Area. At 0.3 miles, the trail becomes bumpier but has no significant obstacles. Around 1.2 miles, you’ll encounter a few 4–5-inch ruts. More than 10 dispersed campsites are located throughout the trail, each accommodating one to two vehicles with level ground and excellent views of the surrounding mountains and desert.
