Trail Overview

The north end of this trail starts out very wide, like a shelf road, lined with tall sugar pines, then goes into the trees on a narrower path. It stays smooth and obstacle-free for the entire route, winding through the trees with light dips and bumps, but not many rocks. You have to watch out for some low-hanging branches and loose sticks, but it remains very easy and approachable for newer riders, making it an ideal bailout from the more intermediate trail 4-2. The trail is nice and shaded, and the 0.6 miles can be ridden quickly to bail out to FS Road 12NY21, which takes you back to Rock Creek Road.
