Trail 3-1 ATV (11E16)

This is a 1-mile intermediate ATV trail through the Eldorado National Forest near the Mace Mill Staging Area. From the intersection with Trail 3, this trail descends down the edge of the hillside, steadily descending a semi-steep grade with waterbars, sharp corners, and ruts. It drops about 500 feet in elevation over the 1 mile. Although the trail is pretty wide for the majority of the route, there are also some narrow spots that won’t be a problem for dirt bikes, but could be quite narrow and exposed for quads as the trail follows a shelf on the edge of the hillside. Expect several moderate ledges from roots and embedded rock, plus deep troughs that will require careful tire placement on the high points. It’s a fun two-track trail to take in conjunction with Loop 3 and Trail 9, which are both of similar intermediate difficulty.
