Trail Overview
Sunrise is a 1.4-mile-long connecting route between Butcher Ranch Trail and the Sierra Buttes Trailhead. This trail is generally easy, being smooth and flowy, with big banked corners, wide gradual switchbacks, and minor embedded rock. One of the switchbacks has a big root on the inside of the turn, which added a minor technical element. It has minor loose rock in sections, and a couple steeper spots, but mostly just weaves between the trees on an easy path. You get a fantastic view of Sierra Butte and the fire tower on the east end of the trail as it approaches the parking area. There are a couple unmarked intersections, however, with the Pack Saddle loop, so it's helpful to have a map. You will likely see mountain bikers on this route, as this is the beginning of the Downieville Downhill - a 15-mile downhill route from the Packer Lake Saddle to the town of Downieville.

Difficulty
This is an easier path as it does not have many rocks or exposure, and is mostly just fast and flowy corners through the trees. It has a few steeper spots in the middle of the route, but it is still ideal for less experienced riders.
