Trail Overview
This short forest service spur provides easy access to a great dispersed campsite just before the road is blocked by an impassable washout. The road surface is a rough, high-elevation mix of eroded dirt, chunky rock, and sections of old, broken pavement, reflecting its age as a former powerline/administrative route (S.C.E.). It runs through a dense, shady conifer forest and loses elevation quickly. The accessible section is a scenic, short challenge, but the road is permanently blocked just 0.6 miles from the top due to a significant, older washout that has not been repaired. This destination is ideal for those targeting the dispersed campsite near the washout's edge.
Difficulty
This rating is due to the eroded, uneven tread and the frequent patches of broken pavement and exposed rock visible in the accessible section. High clearance is beneficial to safely traverse the rough surface, but 4WD is not needed. A stock SUV can access this road with careful line choice.
