Trail Overview

This short trail takes you to an overlook high above Mammoth Lake's Shady Rest Park. Beautiful views of the town of Mammoth Lakes as well as Mammoth Mountain can be seen from this viewpoint. It can be a challenging sandy trail with lots of loose sand and some rocky sections. 4x4 is recommended but is not required. Low-clearance vehicles are not recommended.

Difficulty

There is a downed tree in the early part of this trail that you need to get around. The trail is very sandy and has some rocky areas to maneuver around. There are a couple of steep sections. Low-clearance vehicles are not recommended. There is usually snow still in the early spring.

Awesome view coming down the mountain. Saw a couple hikers on the trail.
