Sardine Lakes

Lots of people camping, hiking, riding at a, and dirt bikes. The busiest I have ever seen it.

Trail was in good condition. There were some people hiking the trail and a couple 4x4s at the lake. The parking area at the lake is small and most the trail is only one car width.

A little bit of snow but nothing to bad. Trail gets kind of sketchy right before the dam/ upper sardine lake. Someone staked rocks to make it a little easier. It’s deteriorated a lot since last year. Take it slow at that spot.

By the end of the trail, a new Bronco slid off near the last rock obstacle by the upper lake. It also damaged the cliffside of the trail pretty badly. We recovered him and got him back on his way. Now the only way out is over the large rock with smaller rocks stacked up. With my Gladiator at stock height and 35' tires, I experienced some rubbing on the skid plate.

Got up with a Tentrax trailer(pictured) no problem, no sliders but did hit the frame on the last rock to get to the lake.

My wife and I did an overnight trip camping in my sequoia. There was patches of melted snow in some spots that were manageable and there were small streams coming down the whole length of the trail. About 3/4 of the way up there’s are 2 massive rocks; one on the left and one on the right, my 3.5” lift struggled to get over without hitting my rock sliders, would be easier in something smaller than a full size SUV to go in between the rocks. Towards the very top there’s tons of very deep partially melted snow that I would just sink through so I had to turn back around. Be careful for hikers/ snowmobiles, they frequent the area and don’t take kindly to people in cars. When we woke up there was 5 inches of fresh snow on the ground. Hope to come back soon.

Busy holiday weekend. Dusty, loose rocks, and bushes creeping from the side of the trail. Top of the trail by the lake had some bigger obstacles. Space by the lake for 6-8 trucks. Trail was degrading at a few points, but filled in with loose rocks.
