Easy trail except for 3 or 4 washed out areas. We made it in a stock 4Runner and a stock Jeep Mojave, but higher clearance is recommended and 4x4 with lockers is a must! Had to rock crawl at these washouts. Slow go, took us 4+ hours.

Great beginners trail. Did some of the obstacles that wasn’t bad at all. Really cool doing a night run

Great trail. Completely dry. Full size trucks with level kit can do it. Just bring some friends along to spot. The trail is tight in some spots with rocks to maneuver around.

Really easy main road that turns into the wash. It’s not hard, just a lot of alternating sandy and rocky sections once you’re in the canyon. Hard part is figuring out which path to take when you’re in the canyon because different routes weave together, some very soft and others with boulders. Anything bigger than a midsize would be a pain.

Washboard leading up to the canyon is pretty bad. Trail itself is not too hard, i’d say about a 4/10. Would be more difficult for a full size truck due to some areas being pretty narrow.

The beginning of the trail was desert road through washes and once you entered the canyon is when it started to get very rocky with tight turns. Although a full size truck can make it through, plan for alot of spotting with carful lines to avoid damage.

Fun trail, starting with some sandy roads with some washboarding but nothing crazy. Eventually ran into some trickling water and more rocks in the route as it got more into the hills. There were a few tight areas and some rocks to go over but nothing too bad if you got the clearance. Sadly did not see any cows, or rattlesnakes

Washboard
Sandy wash for the first 8mi (from Johnson Valley) then it gets rocky for a 2mi or so section before opening back up to a sandy wash in the Joshua Tree forest. A couple of level 4 obsticles that can't be avoided. Fun traill, beautiful scenery!

Easy trail. Mostly washes, only one rocky portion. Saw plenty of stock 4x4’s and pickups go through. Beautiful views

Washboard
Heavy washboards until you get off the sand and onto hard pack clay. No other traffic. Went during the rain so there was a little mud but not much.

A few larger obstacles in curves that can be safely navigated. Stock height CUVs and SUVs would have difficulty but there are bypasses for most. A small spring was running down the middle of the trail.

The trail follows a wash cutting through the canyon so there are areas of sand and areas of water/mud. All the “difficult” sections are in the wash. There are 3 or 4 20-30 foot sections of rocks that you need to plan a route through and a couple stretches of pretty annoying washboard of 6 inches or so deep. We went north to south but running it the other way would be just as easy. As a relatively new off-roader, there was never a time where I was concerned I wouldn’t make it. Once you get to Burns Canyon, if you take it south east to Pioneertown, it’s just a 1/10 dirt road.

Beautiful day. Saw one other party with two vehicles. Trail is part of BLM so it’s not closed. I entered from the north and took it all the way down Burns Canyon. The lower part of Burns is also open.
