Quartz Mountain Top - FS 5S040XD

This high-alpine two-track delivers summit-level views and a worthy challenge. The trail climbs to over 9,000 feet, and the surface is defined by embedded and loose chunky rock on a loose duff base, requiring careful line choice. It forms a scenic loop around the summit with the Prospect Mine Trail, but note that the southern end was rerouted years ago, impacting the original MVUM path. Your reward: fantastic, expansive views to the East out over the Ansel Adams Wilderness.
