Trail Overview
This very wide wash starts at the San Felipe Wash and features fine, deep sand throughout the route. The edges are lined with desert bushes and seasonal wildflowers that add color when in bloom, framing your journey through the wash. You'll enjoy great views of the surrounding mountains as you navigate the sandy terrain. The trail narrows as it heads west, transitioning from the very wide wash to more confined quarters. Although relatively smooth overall, be aware of elevation changes as you cross the path of other trails, creating small drop-offs or climbs at intersections. This trail is part of the Ocotillo Wells OHV area, where all vehicles are allowed, opening access to a wider range of riders.
Difficulty
The fine deep sand is the main technical challenge, requiring four wheel drive, and airing down is essential for maintaining traction and momentum. The very wide wash provides room to find the best line through the deep sand. The elevation changes at trail crossings require attention but aren't major obstacles. The narrowing western section demands more careful navigation. All vehicle types allowed means this sees varied traffic.
