Trail Overview

Kaiser Pass Road, built in the early 1920's as part of the Southern California Edison's Big Creek Hydroelectric Project, opened up access to the remote High Sierra. After two years of building, the road was completed in 1922, it enabled vehicles to reach deep into the mountains, connecting critical water resources and creating new recreational opportunities.

Didn’t need 4wd and ground clearance was not a factor.. the biggest risk on this trail is inexperienced drivers not slowing down around blind corners and there are a lot of blind corners (very few drivers) Honking before each turn and you’ll be fine. Other than that the only thing that would detour me from bringing my car like other people are the POT HOLES. Don’t trust puddles and with the snow melt there are a lot. Which could potentially lead to black ice if the temp drops enough. Mono hot springs is a cool place to stop.
