Trail Overview

This is a nice little adventure close to town where you will switchback underneath the powerlines and make your way towards Iowa Hill. The trail is not too difficult--mostly just forest roads--but there are some side spurs to explore and some spots to camp. At the end is a bald mountain with some views of the surrounding area. It makes for a fun afternoon trip or day venture!

Difficulty

This trail is muddy at times, but other than that, it is not difficult. There is some private property in the area, but if you stick to the trail you will be fine.

1st half was easy paved - gravel - dirt road. Last section had some mud/water holes pretty shallow and solid underneath. At the end there’s a steep is downhill then uphill to get to the viewpoint. Also will definitely get pin stripes if you’re a wider truck anything full size

easy, quick trail. Took about 30 minutes start to end. there was some road work (paving a section under some power lines). Most of the trail was gravel or dirt (with mild ruts, no mud), and a little bit of manzanita had overgrown the trail toward the home stretch at the top of the hill. Good view at the end.

1/10 on challenge level, very easy drive. Mostly just a well maintained fire road. A few minor ruts. Trail is narrow with bushes on both sides for the final few hundred yards to the summit, expect some trail stripes. Pleasant little trip for how close it is to town.

Good beginner trail for somebody like me trail is still a little wet from the winter and some mud but nothing major has lots of spurs that you can go out and explore. You can tell people overland or camp in the spots. Couple of places where you can shoot we stopped and cracked off a few rounds Nothing technical at all at the top of the hill is a great view and a good spot for lunch. There is a steep trail, which goes down from the top of the hill. I did not do it, but there was a Willy’s Jeep and a lifted Rubicon, which went down and said there’s a hiking trail down there and it’s super easy to go up and down. We just ran out of time. Great little afternoon trail.

Went for a good Sunday off road trip. 1hr drive from sac. Actual trail is about 20-30 mins up to the peak. Brush is overgrown towards the peak (you will get scratched up in a full size). Top of the peak is a good hang out spot. We bbq’d and chilled. There’s another trail down to drive, but it’s steep. Nice little walking trail at the bottom. A few places to set up and let off some rounds. Overall a nice day trip.

Perfect morning run up Iowa Hill to the end of the mountain. Mostly wet gravel and plenty of opportunity to peel off the road a bit and play in some mud. Great view at the end and a very pleasant country drive for the season. Drive the wrangler and friends Tacoma TRD OffRoad.

Smooth Gravel Road. last mile is dirt with a couple of ruts. Manzanita is starting to grow in a little bit at the end of the trail. nice view at the end. not worth doing unless you live in the area. I have drove my Outback out here and my tacoma. there is some optional challenging terrain that is off of the Gravel Road. fun when it's muddy as well

Road has been graded and graveled. You could drive the road in any car now, it is prefectly smooth. Still a nice quiet place to get out in the woods, but not what I'd call a 4x4 road.

Super easy road. Some very slight ruts and pot holes. Saw two other cars, a Civic and a minivan. Definitely doable in a typical 2WD car. I only have it a 2 for difficulty because it isn't two cars wide, but there are plenty of dates places to pass. Beautiful drive through the woods, good places to let the dog out to run a couple times.

Took the kids out on this trail in 4x4 truck. Rutted with countless pot holes that keep you alert the whole way. Still a nice drive though. Fun for a picnic.
