Trail Overview

This trail is an easy dirt road trail that gives access to a few Forest Service cabins, but like any trail, if it has rained recently, it can have a few deep puddles. While on the trail, you should stay on the track to not end up in someone's driveway. Multiple water crossings are easy and not deep. Be ready to squeeze between and around downed trees that have been cut just as wide as the trail. All in all, it is a fun quick drive on the way to Big Bear with nice views.

Difficulty

Due to the downed trees, you cannot go around or miss obstacles. You will most likely get some slight branch scrapes.

The trail is mostly good with a few soft spots due to the rain. There is a small water crossing about a mile in, but shouldn’t be an issue for any lightly modified 4x4. At the end of the trail, where there is normally a nice water crossing, it is washed out bad enough where I didn’t continue with my wife and kid in the car. I didn’t take any pictures, but I should have. The attached picture is from my dash cam, so not the best, I’m sorry for that.

If you’re in the area and want to do something quick. This is the perfect trail. About 30 minutes. One stream crossing. Couple loose climbs. Great views. Couple spot perfect to pull over and have a picnic.

Scenic Drive. I didn’t realize that Clark Summit Road was blacktop until I got to it.

Took my kids. Our first time here. It was easy and quick which is why we went due to time constraints. It was mostly dry with the exception of one large deep puddle covering the trail from side to side. The weather was nice and the views better.

Trail is mostly dry some puddles and muddy areas. one large puddle covering the entire road about 2 feet deep 4x4 required. Some deep ruts due to resent rain. Great scenery along the way and some wildlife.
