Trail Overview
This dirt road access is gated and seasonally open, with a semi-paved parking area just outside the edge of a nearby residential neighborhood. The surface starts with gravel and quickly turns to well-graded, hard-packed dirt. With only a slight incline at the start and minor dips throughout, with very little rutting. This trail is still suitable for a standard passenger vehicle. The road isn't a full two-vehicle width the whole way, but it's wide enough for one car with plenty of pull-outs for passing. There is also little brush or overgrowth to manage. Parking for 6 to 7 cars at the trailhead gate, plus extra pull-out spots on the way up. Be on the lookout for signs of logging and wildfire cleanup that remain visible from the Caldor Fire. This route is easily done by a 2WD or AWD passenger car, with access to popular nearby trails. Total length 1.1 miles out and back.
Difficulty
This is an easy, low-stress road suitable for nearly any vehicle type. The surface is smooth, hard-packed dirt with only minor dips and no meaningful rutting, and the incline is minimal throughout. There's no need for high clearance or four-wheel drive, a standard passenger vehicle should manage this trail without issue. The road narrows in spots but remains wide enough for a single vehicle with regular pull-outs to pass oncoming traffic. No obstacles, no technical sections, and no reason for hesitation by a new off-road driver!
