Heartbreak Hill

This is a fun sand trail to cross over the mountain. There are a few small rocks on the east side of the trail, ranging in size up to a foot; however, it's the steepness and loose sand that make this trail difficult. Once you cross over to the west side, the descent is a fun sandy ride to the bottom. There are lots of sandy trails and washes to play on once you're on the west side of the mountain. Going up from the west side is very soft, making the need for very soft tires or lots of tire speed in order to make the climb. Many drivers make the mistake of having too much air in their tires to make the climb the first time. This is a great area to spend some time in the sand while still staying fairly close to Boone Road.
