Trail Overview

Gooseberry is a trail that is also a cross-country ski trailhead during the winter. This trail can be completed in a loop and will also take you to Gianelli Cabin where there are wilderness hiking trails in the area. The trail goes up the mountain and crosses paths with the chair lifts at Dodge Ridge Ski Resort. There are some great views on the trail as well as some camping spots on top.

Difficulty

This trail is entry level and does not have many obstacles. Most AWD vehicles and 4x4s can make it with no issues.

Lots of snow as you go higher up. Had to put chains on closer to the eastern end. Beautiful drive though.

Very, very dusty, with active logging in some areas. We saw Tesla and BMW sedans along the first 2/3 of the trail, but there were some uneven spots that required higher clearance near the end. The road ends at a popular backpacking trailhead that is normally accessed from a graded road.

Tried going around through Crabtree, there was spots of heavy snow if you’re wanting to go up there bring some chains. I didn’t bring chains so I went down and around and this is closed so if you do go up the other way plan on coming back down the way you went up for now

First time offroad with our Tremor. Only been mall crawling so far lol 😆 Fun trail not real difficult. Did it two days. Second day there was a fallen tree 🌳 Luckily it was dead and broke up. looking forward to exploring using the OnX app.
