Trail Overview

This trail starts next to Cascade Campground and runs as an 8-mile out-and-back route. It climbs over 700 feet and drops almost 650 feet in just over 4 miles. The track follows a shelf road above Cascade Creek and is lined with pine trees and other forest vegetation within the Stanislaus National Forest. The surface begins as an old paved road that has broken down into gravel and dirt. Around mile 1.3, it becomes rougher, turning to all gravel and rock with another stretch of narrow shelf road.

Difficulty

Most of the route is manageable, but the final half mile is steeper and more rocky. Shallow ruts from water runoff, loose rock, and fallen logs pushed to the side add minor challenges. Use caution when navigating through fallen branches and overgrowth.
