Trail Overview

This is a more steep and narrow trail coming up from the freeway leading into Lake Isabella, making a nice circuit if visiting the area. There are a couple more interesting sections, requiring 4-low to surmount. It is easier to travel down from another trail, but the climb will not be boring and the payoff is a fast way to some much longer trails around the area.

There were some deep ruts and tight corners. Best part is there is more technical lines for better rigs. My stock Subaru Outback made it up with no real issue just momentum (first time off-roading).

Nothing too crazy I was able to go up an F-150 with extended cab. A couple of the turns were tight but I was able to make them by backing up just a little and going forward. I did see a couple offshoots that would make it a little more interesting for someone that wanted to have fun. I would give this trail a three possibly a two to the top of the hill. After that I'm not sure because I turned to go down to the river.

Trail was in good shape, nothing too challenging. Continued up to Evans Flat on 26S06. This trail was quite challenging, rutted and multiple steep inclines. 4lo entire trail. End of trail ends at a large rock if you follow map. This is a mistake and you need to take a left prior to it finish route.

I came in from the top. You definitely need 4 Low and high clearance. Loose dirt and sand in areas. Deep ruts. Pick your lines and keep it in 4 Low the entire way down. At the bottom there is a nice wide area to air up and the hwy is right there. When I went through the gate, there was a road closed sign there. Not sure what that was about as there were no closure notices at the other end of the trail.

As soon as that gate closes behind you. It’s an intense climb up hill. After that it’s smooth sailing

Descended the trail to get back to the 178. In a stock jeep so it was more of a challenge.

Large ruts & some rocks to get around from recent rain but passable with 2.5” min lifted vehicle. My spotter did a great job for me. The view on top was amazing.
