Trail Overview

Finning Mill Road is a great off-road alternative to get to the Foresthill OHV area, instead of staying on paved roads to get there. It is a well-maintained gravel road that cuts through privately owned land used for logging. During summer and fall, drivers can expect to see heavy equipment in use along the road. Upon entering Tahoe National Forest land, there are multiple dirt bike trail crossings.

Difficulty

Finning Mill Road is well-maintained for logging trucks. While damage does occur during the winter, it is quickly repaired in the spring. The entire path can be easily traversed in 2WD after repairs have been completed.

This is a really nice open trail with nice spots to pull over and relax. There are also plenty of more challenging side trails throughout. Could easily be done in most vehicles in dry conditions. There was some snow to be seen, but not on the trail.

Easy dirt road. The rain created fun mud puddles. Lots of side routes to explore. Unfortunately a lot of them were closed for the season and blocked by gates. Not a lot of traffic.
