Desert Front Trail

Clear and open, no obstructions. Able to get through it with a 2WD.

Overall route was great, a few technical spots but overall easy. The south end (near the 15 fwy) is currently closed off therefore you can enter/exit through there. Recommend taking BM back door to enter/exit or you can take the the undesignated motorized route for more technical opportunities (high clearance is recommended).

some washed out areas, this was more than a level 3 trail in my opinion. 4WD and high clearance highly recommended.

Entrance/exit at Cajun Summit brake check area is walled off, be prepared to turn around if entering from the 138. Rain deteriorated trail in a lot of areas. Lots of puddles that aren’t too deep.

Closure at Cajon Summit -- need to enter or exit at Caliente Road

Overall very smooth but be warned there’s is an extremely steep part of the trail towards the beginning. My Toyota couldn’t make it up. It was too rocky and steep. A heavier vehicle with bigger tires and you’ll be fine

pretty easy trail. some mud puddles from the rain this week nothing crazy. good amount of sxs, atvs, and dirt bikes. Easy to navigate in a stock ram rebel on AT's. 4 hi the whole time. used 4 low and the locker on a deeper mud puddle but was definitely unnecessary. entered through the 138 and headed towards the 15. last portion of the trail to the 15 was pretty rutted I wouldn't take anything with less clearance then a truck, but im a novice. a good bit of off camber stuff really lifted trucks might be sketch.

Overall great dry desert trail. Only saw one group of bikers, not busy on a Tuesday. Took me a little over 3 hours even with the detour at the end due to I-15 entrance being closed off (use Elk Ridge Road). It is definitely more difficult than a 3/10 though. I’d personally rate it a 5 based on other trails I’ve seen rated on this app. 4WD highly recommended. The trail is easy in some ways; it’s never that steep and doesn’t require a lot of vertical clearance. The difficulty comes from the very uneven, rutted surfaces and sharp, banked turns. I’d say any sized vehicle can complete the trail, but my Tacoma was a little big for those turns; I had to take them really slow, and Tacomas are pretty small trucks. Most of the trail is on a ridge line, so as long as it hasn’t rained recently, wetty/muddy shouldn’t be an issue. Take caution for bikers, as in some points the truck trail and bike trail overlap, they are easy to tell apart though.

Not too many people for a Saturday. a few dirt bikes, no other vehicles or SidebySides. perfect weather, trail dried nicely after the rains. no more puddles.

Fun trail! Great views! lots and lots of people on a Sunday. if you are driving a street legal 4x4, be cautious on the blind corners. too many motorcycles and quads to count. they run fast. be respectful and take the turns slowly. allow them to pass in the inside. Visited approx 5 days after rain and lots of big mud puddles... all easy, but messy. #Grin Nice trail, lots of families out enjoying the day.

We started from 138 highway towards i15. The trial was easy at the beginning but towards the later half was a bit muddy and some areas were a bit tricky. But overall had a fun experience doing the trail we took around 1Hr 15 mins. ::Please Note:: The exit/entry near the break check area from i15 (as shown in the map in onX) is blocked had to take another exit near Caliente Rd.

Great trail. Don’t let 3 rating deceive you… ruts, loose rock and sand… UTV’s and dirt bikes come flying through… keep your head on a swivel! 👍

First time taking a trail ! It was easy and awesome . Got start on one part but I got out . Went with my family!
