Trail Overview

Climb along the side of the Sierra Nevada Mountains above Mono Lake on this beautiful SUV route. Check out views of the valley as well as Lundy Lake, and make time to visit an abandoned copper mine. Lots of side roads to explore, especially for green-sticker vehicles. Dispersed camping with great views once you start the loop.

Difficulty

Easy: Rocky, bumpy and narrow in places. Suitable for stock 4x4 SUVs with moderate clearance. Lowrange gearing recommended because of higher altitude.

Access Description

Take Highway 395 to Conway Summit, about 8 miles north of Mono Lake, between Lee Vining and Bridgeport. Turn west on paved Virginia Lakes Road and go 0.4 miles to wellmarked Road 32180 on left. Wide pullover on Virginia Lakes Road just before the turn.
