Copper Mountain

Very easy trail up to Copper mountain. Amazing views overlooking Mono Lake. Road is narrow with limited places to pull over if you encounter traffic. The turn off to the mine is just below the climb to the summit of Copper Mountain peak and is unmarked. The opening to Copper mine is caved in but still worth the trip to explore the mining tailings.

Trail was 10.3 miles. Too us 90 min on quads. Comfortable pace. It’s pretty rocky. Trail is rutted pretty good for a couple miles. Slowed us down to 5-8mph. Trucks and jeeps could cruise right through. Perfect time of year as the leaves were changing to gold. Temp was 72 when we started at 4:45p and around 5:45 when the sun dropped behind the ridges the temp dropped instantly. Bundle up in the fall mornings and evenings! Incredible views of mono lake and the mntns. Great trail if you’ve only got 2hrs from staging to exit.

Nice drive around the loop. Trail through group of trees could be difficult for full size vehicles due to tight turns. Take the turn at 32181C to see the copper mine.

Trail mostly easy, however there is some tightness through the aspen trees, if you care about scratching or pin stripping your vehicle, you may not want to go here (see photos). I enjoyed my time here. Very beautiful.
