Trail Overview

Descending the road down to Cherry Creek campsite, where there are two fire pits and very peaceful scenery. This road follows the drainage down to the campsite and has one steeper descent at 18 degrees. A slower but calm trail, sure to get you away from the main path. The road ends at the campground; however, there are dirt bike and ATV trails leading past it to meet up with the Salt Creek road after a few miles. Bring a chainsaw, as the path may need clearing; these roads are not very highly trafficked.

Difficulty

A couple of steep sections and some mounds that may cause clearance issues if you are a lower SUV. Loose rocks on the grades may intimidate a newer off-roader, but if you get to the trailhead, you should be fine.

This trail is now rated BLUE (moderate) on the sign posts due to 2 sections of moguls. Our 3 Toyotas (4Runner, Tacoma, FJ Cruiser) needed 4 low to crawl up these sections on the way out. Bring bug repellent!

It was worth it for the scenery. Easy with high clearance. Some rutted sections but manageable with stock high clearance and 4WD. Had to shift to 4low on the way back up due to the incline. LOTS of bugs at the end
