Trail Overview
This short sandy trail takes you to the top of the Carrizo Wash Overlook, also known as the Bus Stop, where there is a dramatic viewpoint spreading out below. It's the easy way up compared to the alternative route on BLM 209, which features a 150 foot steep, sandy climb that's much more challenging. The overlook is called the Bus Stop due to the abandoned bus sitting up top, creating an iconic landmark. You'll encounter a trail that's very sandy with a few off camber and rutty sections scattered along the way. This viewpoint is very popular for offroaders and side by siders who come to enjoy the spectacular views and photograph the abandoned bus.
Difficulty
This is an easy trail compared to the BLM 209 alternative, designed as the accessible route to the overlook. The very sandy surface requires momentum, but the few off-camber and rutty sections are manageable obstacles. Airing down is recommended for the sandy conditions. This is the route to take if you want to reach the Bus Stop viewpoint without tackling the steep 150-foot climb of BLM 209.
