Trail Overview

Part 3 of the Cady Mountain Loop begins after you make the hard left turn from AC9476 (Loop 2) onto BI9470. It continues for about 11 miles east on a hard-packed trail with some fun S-Turns and a couple of soft sections but a minimal amount of whoops. It ends near an old abandoned oil well which makes a good stop for a short break. The desert scenery is consistent with Loop 2--mostly scrub and small desert plants. About 3.7 miles into the loop, you will see trail BI9489 to the left. That trail will take you west to Highway 40 and Route 66 and towards the Pisgah Crater and Lava Tubes. The Pisgah Crater is now private property, so be sure to get permission before heading that way, as there is a chain across the access road.
