Trail Overview

Buffalo Gulch begins from Feliciana Mountain Road and winds for nearly 2 miles along a narrow shelf road. The track is one vehicle wide, composed of hard-packed sand, and sees a gentle gain of 120 feet before dropping more than 250 feet toward the end. The route provides excellent views of the surrounding ridgelines and the canyons below. Evidence of past forest fires is still visible along the hillsides, and low-hanging branches may brush taller trucks.

Difficulty

This trail is generally easy with a few clearance considerations due to tree limbs. It is suitable for most high-clearance vehicles.

The 4s11 is open, But the Buffalo Gulch name should be removed. Buffalo Gulch Road proper is washed out and is not a through way. Part of a volunteer off road recovery group, in the last year two vehicles have gone down the road and had to be recovered.
