Trail Overview

Part of the limited-use area requiring staying on trails, this hard-packed gravel route departs Ogilby Road heading straight for the Imperial Sand Dunes with determination. Very little vegetation surrounds the trail bed initially, though overgrown trees eventually appear, forcing you to navigate around or thread through their branches. A few drop-offs up to 18 inches interrupt the otherwise solid surface, creating vertical challenges. The south side becomes hard to follow due to desert reset from wind and weather erasing clear tracks, demanding attention to navigation markers and terrain features. The trail ends on the south with a slightly off-camber drop down to Ted Kipf Road.

Difficulty

Those few drop-offs up to 18 inches are obstacles demanding high clearance and careful approach angles to navigate safely. The overgrown trees create tight maneuvering and potential pinstriping for wider vehicles. The south side is hard to follow due to the desert reset adds navigation difficulty beyond physical obstacles. In limited use area, wandering off the trail isn't an option, so finding the correct path matters. High clearance and four wheel drive handle the drop-offs well once you locate the route.
