Trail Overview
Starting at BLM 801 near the base of Picacho Peak Wilderness and ending at Walker Way, this hard-pack sand and gravel route crosses both Ogilby Road and BLM 701 along its journey. The section north of Walker Way transitions to hard-packed dirt and sand with lots of scattered rocks blanketing the surface. A 12+ inch berm blocks road access, requiring crossing to reach the trail, while signposts hide behind brush, making them hard to find from the road. A few rock sections with small rocks appear scattered throughout. Many washes interrupt as the trail drops in and out, with some deeper than others, creating varied vertical challenges. Heading southwest, you aim directly for the Imperial Sand Dunes dominating that horizon. Very little vegetation exists beyond a few scattered desert bushes and ocotillo. A few short rutted and off-camber sections add technical moments. The trail finally drops into a wash to finish the south end.

Difficulty
The many washes, with some deeper than others, accumulate into a significant challenge over distance, demanding consistent clearance and approach angle awareness. Those few short rutted and off-camber sections concentrate difficulty in brief stretches. Various rock sections require line selection. The 12+ inch berm at road access sets the initial tone. Wash depths varying means unpredictability in vertical challenges. High clearance and four wheel drive navigate the accumulated obstacles well. Hard-to-find signposts add navigation complexity.
