Trail Overview
This trail is a fairly wide wash with a surface that's hard-pack sand mixed with deep sand, creating varying traction conditions. The wash has sand and mud walls with parts of it lined with lots of vegetation, adding greenery to the corridor. You'll encounter some washboards scattered throughout, creating a bumpy ride. Superstition Mountain and Fish Creek Mountain serve as your backdrops for this run, providing impressive mountain scenery. There are some really deep ruts up to 18 inches deep that present serious obstacles along the way.
Difficulty
The hard-pack sand mixed with deep sand requires constant adjustment in driving approach and momentum management. Four wheel drive and airing down are recommended for the deep sand sections. Some really deep ruts up to 18 inches deep are serious obstacles that demand high clearance and careful line choice. These deep ruts can cause high centering or damage if not navigated properly. The washboards add to the jarring ride. The fairly wide wash provides room to pick lines around the worst obstacles.
